This internship is with the Parks and Recreation Aquatics Department. Interns will work a maximum of 30 hours a week.
- Assist in the execution of facility management
- Assist in Project Management
- Reports hazardous conditions and accidents and administers first aid when needed.
- Instructs individuals and groups in recreational activities; maintains discipline in recreational areas.
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and early mornings.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform related work as required
Enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in a degree seeking program in an accredited college or university in Sports Management, Recreation management, Physical Education or any field related to the area of internship.

- American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred
- American Red Cross Water Safety instructor preferred
- Swimming abilities preferred
- Customer Service Skills preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with supervisor, co- workers, other City employees and the general public
- Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing, and to request clarification when needed
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:
- Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis
- The job risks exposure to bright/dim light, chemicals, blood borne pathogens and environmental hazards
- The job requires normal visual acuity, and field of vision, hearing and speaking
