HOURS:
8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday, serves on 24-hour call for emergencies
SALARY:
$2,976.92 - $3,429.77 biweekly
Incumbent works as Chief of Surveillance/Pretreatment for Lafayette Renew, responsible for the overall
management and control of day-to-day operations, while maintaining compliance with federal and state
programs for industrial pretreatment and biosolids disposal.
DUTIES:
- Supervises overall efficient operation of the Surveillance Pretreatment area’s activities.
- Reviews projects, makes calculations, determines quality/quantity estimates, and prepares budget
information.
- Organizes field crew’s work, answering questions, and reviewing status of projects currently in progress.
- Provides direction to staff while promoting a teamwork environment.
- Performs set up of new projects and analytical tests for design, surveying personnel, delegating jobs.
- Trains and evaluates personnel in surveillance area.
- Compiles, organizes, and composes various materials, reports, and correspondence.
- Attends various meeting and serves as a representative of the City as a resource to the Superintendent.
- Reports Pretreatment and Land Application of Biosolids activities to State and Federal government.
- Possession of a valid Indiana driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record.
I. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
- Associates Degree required or equivalent combination of training and/or work experience or related work.
- Ability to demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy due to the sensitive nature of the work.
- Thorough knowledge of Pretreatment Surveillance needed to manage field crews.
- Thorough knowledge of departmental and administrative codes, rules, and regulations. Thorough knowledge
of State and Federal wastewater regulations.
- Ability to supervise, train, plan, and delegate responsibilities and authority to staff, consistent with their
duties and abilities. Ability to facilitate communication and information flow.
- Ability to prepare plans design and schedule projects.
- Working knowledge of surveillance procedures needed to accurately determine conditions and prepare
proposals.
