DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent serves as a Program Assistant for the McAllister Recreation Center, responsible for assisting staff with
development of programs and day to day operation of recreation center, special event and program supervision both on
and off site and assist in checking in/out of recreation equipment for customers. Provides support to Center staff, including
answering the telephone, taking messages, registering customers, and using Center software system. Contributes to the
promotional activities related to marketing McAllister events and programs including developing brochures, fliers,
promotional packets and media releases. Provide energetic customer service and public relations and perform occasional
public speaking. Performs related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Standard
English grammar, spelling and publication, and ability to compose/prepare correspondence and properly operate a variety
of standard office equipment such as computer, calculator, copier, phone and AV equipment. Ability to
follow/communicate oral and written instruction; work alone and in a team environment. Ability to competently serve the
public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons. Ability to comply with all
employer/department personnel policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free
workplace and personal conduct. Ability to work extended weekend and/or evening hours.
