Grow your career with us! The City of La Crosse is seeking to hire an Ordinance Technician-Floodplain Coordinator in the Buildings & Inspections Department. The person working in this position will perform all aspects of the city’s floodplain management program including compliance with federal requirements and laws, administration of floodplain housing and related economic development programs, grant writing, and planning for floodplain redevelopment Position serves as the liaison to the floodplain advisory committee. Additionally, position will perform a variety of code enforcement support functions related to nuisance housing, health and safety, and refuse. Hourly wage for this non-exempt position ranges between $30.67 and $35.13. Position works 37.5 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent with experience in the construction trade, building or safety code enforcement, and floodplain issues. Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field or combined experience and education preferred. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with the public in a professional manner. Proficient in Microsoft Office. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license required. Ability to obtain a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification within 6 months of hire.
