General Statement of Job
The Utility Line Technician assists in the assembly, installation, and repairs of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of water, wastewater, and drainage systems according to specifications and building codes.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Performs routine maintenance on wastewater collection systems.
Installs and repairs sanitary sewer lines, well points, pumps, manholes, and all related facilities.
Digs and refills ditches, loads dirt and construction materials.
Operates jet truck in cleaning sewer lines
Operates T.V. inspection camera in inspecting gravity lines
Services and maintains equipment.
Performs wet well taps for re-use purposes.
Locates force mains.
Installs fiberglass manhole lines.
Operates backhoe, tamper, scavenger, wet tap machine, saws, etc.
Connects pipes and fittings to form sewer, drain, and water lines.
Perform related duties as assigned.

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
Working Conditions and Physical Abilities
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; speak and hear; taste or smell; and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
The incumbent's working conditions are typically moderate.
While performing the essential functions of the job the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; dirt, dust, extremes of temperature; noxious fumes and odors or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and outdoor weather conditions.
The incumbent is exposed to moderate work hazards when operating or using power tools.
The incumbent is exposed to outdoor hazards associated with equipment, machinery, and ungraded terrain at construction sites, and moving vehicles on roadway.
