What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Operator position at CITY OF JOHNSTOWN?
The City of Johnstown Water Department has an opening for a Utility Operator or OEPA Class I Water Operator to assist in operation of the water treatment plant.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and the ability to obtain an Ohio Class B CDL within 18 months. Must have the ability to obtain an OEPA Class I Water Certification within 24 months. Must interact with all City employees and the public in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
PHYSICAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS: May be required to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift a minimum of (80) pounds. Job duties include operation of water plant, laboratory testing (alkalinity, hardness, chlorine and collection of other samples for outside testing). Must be able to perform maintenance and minor repair of equipment. General knowledge of water distribution systems is desired. Must have the ability to work outdoors for extended periods, including water distribution maintenance and repairs, OUPS utility locating, mowing grass, tree cutting, snowplowing and building maintenance.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: All work is performed under the supervision of the Service Director and Chief Operators.
SHIFT: Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm Full time position - (5) 8hr days.
COMPENSATION:
Utility Laborer- Starts at $19.00/HR PLUS BENEFITS
($20.50/HR w/ Class B CDL) ($23.32/HR w/ OEPA Class I Operator License)
-40 HOURS PER WEEK- Utility Laborer full pay range ($19.00-28.09)
Utility Operator Class I full pay range ($23.32-31.27)
