What are the responsibilities and job description for the Street Maintenance Crew Leader position at City of Jefferson?
The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications for a Street Maintenance Crew Leader for our Public Works department. This position participates in all street maintenance, improvement and renovation projects; schedules daily work, trains, instructs and enforces safe work practices of crew; and manages operations in absence of supervisor.
Performs scheduled maintenance, cleaning on City streets, rights-of-way, curb, gutters, alleys, medians, storm water drainage systems, and retention basins.Performs routine maintenance actives such as trash removal; changing lights; and snow removal from City streets.
Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment.
Cleans or prepares site to eliminate possible hazards; sets barricades and traffic cones in accordance with policy to safely reroute traffic away from work area, or set up for special events.
Operates equipment such as tractor and street sweeper.
Conducts and supervises traffic control operations in accordance with MUTCD.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities such as scheduling daily work, training, planning, assigning and directing work.
Education:
Requires a high school diploma and five years' experience in general construction and maintaining construction equipment or closely related work.
Physical:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds; work in extreme weather conditions; and operate heavy equipment.
Mental:
Ability to follow oral and written instructions; and maintain effective working relationships.
This position requires a Missouri CDL Class A or B license with air brakes and tank endorsements. Advanced technical education preferred.
