Human Resources Specialist Senior

The City of Jefferson is seeking an experienced HR professional who wants to work closely with employees and leaders across city government. Our HR team supports more than 600 full-time and part-time employees across seven departments.

This role provides the opportunity to work directly with the people who serve our community and see the impact of your work firsthand. You’ll build relationships across the organization, help leaders navigate HR issues, and support employees throughout their careers with the City.

A Senior HR Specialist on our team will partner with leaders across seven city departments to supporting a workforce of over 600 full and part-time employees who deliver services to our community. Successful candidates will be experienced HR professionals who can navigate complex HR work, build productive relationships, and provide sound, practical guidance in the following areas:

• Support the recruitment, selection and onboarding processes including administering the applicant tracking system, assisting hiring managers with recruitment, participation in career fairs, onboarding and new employee orientation.
• Administer employee benefits administration and communication including assisting employees with enrollments, participating in benefit plan design, and administration of the annual open enrollment process.
• Promote workplace safety and risk management efforts through coordinating workers’ compensation claims through the City’s third-party administrator.
• Develop reports using available data, identify new data sources, and recognize trends to inform decisions.
• Assist in the administration of the City classification and compensation plans.
• Partner with leaders and employees to understand and address workplace concerns and promote positive employee relations.
• Develop, interpret, and administer personnel policies.
• Coordinate employee recognition programs.

Eligible candidates must possess a minimum of four years of professional Human Resources experience and bachelor’s degree, in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

The ideal candidate brings substantial professional HR experience, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and discretion in handling sensitive matters. Successful candidates will be able to:

• Apply working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, such as the FLSA, FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation laws, and Title VII.
• Provide responsive service to employees, applicants, and department leaders.
• Build productive working relationships across departments and at all levels of the organization.
• Communicate clearly in writing and in person, including when developing and delivering presentations.
• Manage assignments independently and identify opportunities to improve processes.

Salary : $57,464 - $86,196
