OBJECTIVE:
Under general supervision and guidance of the designated Rec Nite Supervisor and Supervision of the Recreation Programmer, the Rec Nite Official is responsible for monitoring youth behavior, enforcing Rec Nite Rules and being a positive role model.
(Various Friday Evenings Throughout School Year)

RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to:  Recreation Programmer and Rec Nite Supervisor in absence of Programmer

Works with seasonal employees regularly and communicates with other Division employees, rec nite participants, and the general public.
 To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  1. Monitors youth behavior and corrects undesirable behavior.
  2. Enforces Rec Nite Rules and policies. 
  3. Models respectful and positive behavior for middle school aged youth.
  4. Communicates effectively with participants, parents, volunteers and staff.
  5. Responds to incidents, conflicts, or emergencies using established procedures.
  6. Reports concerns or violations to Rec Nite Supervisor/Recreation Programmer.
  7. Assists with the collection of program fees.
  8. Assists with documentation of issues and reports.
  9. Maintains a safe and inclusive environment for participants.
  10. Sets up equipment and assists with program clean-up activities.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the essential duties of the position.
Education, Certifications and Experience: 
  1. Must be 18 years of age or older and graduated High School.
  1. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred or willing and able to obtain
Ability to: 
  1. Ability to work Friday evenings during the school year.
  1. Ability to follow city/department/division policies, work independently and make sound decisions. 
  1. Ability to communicate effectively and to follow verbal and written instructions. 
  1. Ability to count back change to participants.
  1. Maintain a positive behavior and professional demeanor at all times; address participant issues and behavior in a calm, appropriate manor.  
  1. Ability to comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report all unsafe activities or conditions to supervisor.

PHYSICAL FACTORS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by any an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  
  1. Work will take place indoors in a school setting.
  2. Working conditions involve occasional exposure to dirt, dust, and moisture.
  3. Perform basic activities, which may include, but not limited to: lifting, stooping, semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, turning, and lying on stomach and/or back.   
  4. Must be able to sit or stand and move for long periods of time.
  5. See and observe all sections of an assigned area of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodation.
