What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior IT Network Engineer position at City of Irving?
Duties include providing vision and oversight for the design, security, implementation and maintenance of wireless and transport network-related software and hardware, systems administration and network system support; maintaining and installing new and upgraded operating systems for servers, routers and switches; acting as the Wireless Infrastructure & Communications Chief in his/her absence; maintaining and establishing guidelines for system and network back up; administering network installation and updates of production software; and providing technical support for end users. Additional duties include designing and maintaining the e-commerce, wireless, local area network, storage area network, and internet/intranet systems; working with hardware and software vendors on installation, project coordination, maintenance, and emergency response; and maintaining, upgrading, and supporting firewalls and all Cisco network switching. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with major course work in computer science, information systems or a closely related field and five years of networking and computer support experience required. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification also required. Candidates will be subject to a CJIS criminal history check and must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.
