What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Marshal position at City of Irving?
This position performs law enforcement duties for the Municipal Court by enforcing state and local laws; providing support to on-site security officers; investigating crimes within the city or courts facility; and providing law enforcement support to the judges and prosecutors when needed. Duties include serving arrest warrants within the city and metroplex; serving papers issued by the judges when ordered; and completing a variety of technical and administrative duties to support the courts and other public safety services within the city as needed. A high school diploma or equivalent; some related college or vocational training in criminal justice or a related field; two years of recent experience as a marshal, warrant officer or patrol officer with a municipal court or police department, or equivalent experience with a sheriff’s or constable’s office; an active TCOLE Peace Officer license, meeting all current TCOLE standards; and a valid Texas driver’s license are required. Must currently possess, or be able to obtain within one year of hire date, Court Security Officer TCOLE certification. Hours may include evenings and weekends. A thorough background investigation, including a criminal history check, polygraph examination, psychological assessment and physical examination/drug screen will be conducted. Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanors within the past ten years; other convictions may also be considered. Starting pay for this position is Pay Grade GG22 Step 7, $39.92 per hour / $83,052 annually. Applicants must submit a résumé with application.
