Position Responsibilities
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in either criminology, psychology, sociology, data science, public policy, public administration or other related fields of study. In depth knowledge of statistics, research methods, intermediate or higher quantitative or qualitative methods from an accredited college/university. Have one year of work experience as an IMPD analyst with a favorable performance review or two years as a supervisor of civilian analysts at another agency.
Experience in the use of statistical computer programs and experience working with GIS software, computer databases, relational databases, spreadsheets and Microsoft Office.
Five years of experience conducting research using complex statistical analysis and statistical computer programs.
Must pass a background check.
Strong knowledge of social media platforms.
Strong general knowledge of the theory, principles and concepts of GIS, and relational databases.
Must have knowledge of 28 CFR Part 23 and Indiana Code 5-2-4.
Must be able to identify priority intelligence assessments and determine when and where to distribute assessments.
Must be willing to work irregular and / or long hours if required during ongoing investigative support.
A knowledge of law enforcement computer systems – Records Management System (RMS) and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD).
The International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA) or International Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (ILEIA) membership preferred to prepare and present complex statistical reports.
Must participate in an outside training that requires a certification based on successful completion or attend a CJ/IA conference. If funding is not available for a conference, put together a presentation of a crime trend or technique to IMPD command staff on a topic that would be similar to presentation given at a conference.
Independent Judgment
Position requires the knowledge of established law, policy and procedure, which controls much of the candidate's administrative actions. An employee in this position is expected to exercise independent judgment when supervising employees, analyzing crime trends and patterns, and recommending strategies. By virtue of the position, the employee will be an integral part of many ongoing investigations and plans and this requires a person who possesses and exercises unfailing discretion with the shared confidential knowledge.

Position Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of Operational Plans.
- Integrate information from analysts and police personnel into a presentation for Command Staff and unit supervisors.
- Monitors all available sources of media, intelligence sources and homeland security resources to timely identify incidents and patterns.
- Develop statistical data resources to assist in proactive and targeted investigations, preventative enforcement and education, identification of patterns, trends and criminal organizations and identification of known and repeat offenders.
- Communicates with department divisions, outside agencies, community leaders and partners to coordinate activities and exchange information.
- Assists with routine administrative duties as required.
- Oversees and performs special projects as assigned.
- Develops an information sharing and collaboration network among public safety and private sector partners.
- Assists in the development of operational plans.
- Plans, develops, administers and implements a wide variety of activities related to the activities of assigned unit such as; IAC, CGIC, District, Robbery, Homicide, Aggravated Assault, or other units in need of assistance.
- Create and train newly hired analysts on their team.
- Coach and mentor analysts on their team.
- Contribute to professional development.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for supervised civilian analysts.
- Support the Analyst Administrator in supporting and directing the use of analysis by the department and in its strategies to address crime and disorder.
