- Assists the Stormwater Administrator in implementing the Stormwater Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) which includes overseeing the planning and design of surface drainage, stormwater detention, channel restoration, and flood protection projects.
- Recommends and assists in establishing policies and procedures for Stormwater Engineering department to streamline operations.
- Serves as a project manager and provides staff supervision and technical assistance related to the development of planning documents, engineering plans, and construction specifications and the preparation of construction cost estimates.
- Performs QA/QC of plans, specifications and construction cost estimates developed by others.
- Coordinates with DPW project managers to ensure proposed stormwater improvements align with the Stormwater Design and Construction Specification Manual.
- Participates in and supports public meetings as needed.
- Assists the Stormwater Administrator in ensuring that all design activity is performed on schedule, within budgetary limits, and in accordance with current statutes, ordinances, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Assist with updates to documents such as the Flood Response Plan, Dam Emergency Response Plan, etc.
- Works cooperatively with consultants and staff to complete projects.
- Coordinate with DPW Stormwater Operations team to provide guidance on maintenance of infrastructure, assist staff in responding to drainage concerns reported by operations or citizens.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Indiana
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or related engineering field and 5 years of experience working on municipal projects.
- Extensive knowledge of City, State, and federal policies and specifications as they relate to design/construction of municipal infrastructure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience leading an engineering team including supervising/directing tasks and performing QA/QC.
- At least 2 years of experience managing municipal projects.
Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in Civil Engineering or experience working on municipal projects.
- Experience with CAD desirable.
