Job Summary
Under the general direction of the City Manager or Assistant City Manager, the Assistant to the City Manager coordinates and participates in providing professional analysis, project coordination and advice to the City Manager. This position assists with coordinating data and communication for the City Manager’s office. The person filling this position will work independently in a highly organized manner with reasonable supervision and may be required to work evenings and overtime.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties described below are indicative of what this position may be asked to perform; duties may be changed with or without notice.
- Provide leadership support to the City Manager and Executive staff by planning and recommending organizational policies and performance strategies; provides a variety of specialized complex administrative and management analysis to support decision-making and strategic direction.
- Participates in various projects and program operations; coordinates assigned activities with City departments, outside agencies, and the general public.
- Assists with preparing, publishing, and distributing data, workshop information, and internal measures for the City.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
REQUIRED
- High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Must have previous customer service experience, and project coordination experience
- Strong background in putting together analytics.
- Strong background in research.
PREFERRED
- Minimum of three (1) years of customer focused analytics.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal laws and procedures.
- Experience in public relations
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in preparing detailed oral, written, and audiovisual reports and presentations.
- Good math skills and experience working with numbers.
- Strong organizational skills for prioritizing work, job efficiency, and meeting deadlines.
- Create and maintain professional, effective working relationships with employees, elected officials, the public, and other departments and agencies.
- Strong research and analysis skills
- Strong working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, and Internet browsers such as Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
