What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Specialist, Passport Services position at City of Hoover?
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with Two (2) years of Library Experience
Associates Degree with One (1) year of Library Experience
OR
Bachelor's Degree or higher
- Passport Certification from the US Passport Services is not necessary when applying, but must be obtained within 6 (months) months of employment
- Certified as a Notary Public is not required when applying but is required within six (6) months of employment
- Experience operating a computer, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills
- Ability to maneuver among high and low shelves
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, nights and weekends
Master's Degree in Library Science
Assists patrons with material selection; answers reader's advisory questions; plans and implements weekly adult library programs and services; analyzes department's collection to develop a collection to meet the needs of the community; plans and implements outreach to senior living facilities; classifies materials; prepares and processes book holds, intra-library loans and inter-library loans; assists patrons with Internet searches and electronic databases; prepares informational or educational programming for patrons and handles related publicity; supervises department on nights and weekends in absence of Coordinator; other duties as assigned.
