This position is a temporary internship that will support the IT team in the maintenance of hardware, software and other systems. They must troubleshoot issues with equipment like printers, computers and servers.

- Learning to support a Windows environment: Assisting with workstation setup, configuration, updates, and troubleshooting while gaining an understanding of how enterprise systems are maintained.
- Introduction to Active Directory: Learning how user accounts are created and managed, including modifications, group assignments, and basic access control.
- Hands-on hardware and software experience: Gaining practical skills in diagnosing and resolving common issues with desktops, laptops, peripherals, and applications.
- Computer imaging and deployment: Learning the full lifecycle of preparing, imaging, and deploying computers for new hires and departmental refreshes.
- Helpdesk and customer service training: Building foundational customer service and technical support skills by responding to staff requests, tracking tickets, and understanding escalation workflows.
- Microsoft Office installation and configuration: Learning how to install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft Office for end users.
- Printer support basics: Gaining experience with resolving common printer issues, coordinating maintenance, and understanding networked print environments.
- IT inventory and asset management: Learning how hardware, software, and peripherals are tracked and managed across the organization.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Currently enrolled or recently received a college or university degree in Information Technology or related field preferred
- Professor/Instructor recommendation preferred
- A working knowledge or familiarity with networking
- Excellent working knowledge of computer hardware and software
- Knowledge of general office practices and automated systems
- Ability to deal effectively with the public, City employees and communicate clearly and tactfully with co-workers
- Ability to attend work regularly and learn new technical skills quickly and efficiently
- Ability to lift, carry, push and pull 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk and sit four hours per day
- Must submit to and pass pre-employment background and drug screening
- Must submit to a pre-employment technical assessment – computer related
- Valid Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record as defined by City policy
- This is a temporary position only lasting a 3-month interval
