The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Public Works Maintenance I in the Department of Public Works. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.**
Under general supervision, performs heavy manual labor and semi-skilled work associated with the construction, maintenance and repair of City streets and storm water drainage systems; and performs related duties as assigned.
** NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:
Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.
Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.

External candidates, probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range, if selected.
- Graduation from high school or the equivalent
- Three (3) years of experience performing heavy manual labor and semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work on streets, roads, and storm water systems in a civil/infrastructure capacity
- Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
- Must obtain and maintain the appropriate OSHA card as defined by the Nevada Revised Statue (NRS 618.950)
- All required certifications as mandated by state and federal laws, or as required by the City, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and may be at the incumbents' expense
- Desirable: Possession of a Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483, Class B or higher-level Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement
