The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Legal Assistant - Criminal Division in the City Attorney's Office. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, provides legal and administrative support to attorneys in the City Attorney’s Office; provides litigation support in criminal, traffic, animal control and appellate matters; and performs related duties as assigned.

- Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in law, criminal justice, or legal administration; OR graduation from high school and successful completion of a course of study for legal assistants/paralegal studies with special emphasis in State of Nevada practices and procedures from an accredited organization
- Four (4) years of legal/law-related work experience under the guidance of an attorney
- Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
- Must have the ability to obtain a State of Nevada Notary Public Commission within six (6) months of employment, and as a condition of continued employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
- Sufficient keyboarding skills of 30 net words per minute
- Must pass nationwide fingerprint-based record and wants/warrants checks
- Must complete and maintain Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six (6) months of hire
- Desirable: Experience drafting and reviewing legal documents, accurately citing legal references, statutes, case information, etc. for review by a prosecuting attorney (e.g., Opposition to Motions, etc.)
- Desirable: Paralegal Certification from an accredited organization

Virtual Skills-Based Keyboarding Proficiency Exams* - Opening Thursday, May 1, 2025 and due by Monday, May 5, 2025 at 12:00pm (PT)
