CLASSIFICATION TITLE:HWU IT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
This classification's purpose is to provide front-line technical support to Henderson Water Utility (HWU) staff. This role focuses on the daily maintenance of computer hardware, software, and peripherals, ensuring staff have the tools and support needed to do their jobs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all- inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
•Serve as the primary point of contact for hardware and software support, responding to help desk inquires and troubleshooting technical issues for end-users.
•Assist staff with Microsoft Office/365 issues, printer connectivity, and general software navigation.
•Perform the physical setup, configuration, and rollout of new PCs, workstations, and mobile devices such as iPads and iPhones. Utilize mobile device management tools.
•Assist with basic Active Directory tasks, such as resetting passwords and provisioning accounts for new users, following established security protocols.
•Perform routine maintenance and repairs on computer systems, printers, IP cameras, and associated peripherals.
•Install, terminate, and test Ethernet cabling as needed to maintain workstation and office connectivity. Assist in the mounting and configuration of CCTV cameras and security hardware.
•Maintain a vigilant lookout for potential security threats or policy violations and report them immediately to the IT & Automation Manager.
•Assist in the deployment of hardware and software with a focus on maintaining functional compatibility with City-wide IT standards to ensure mutual support capabilities
•Provide occasional technical assistance to City IT staff during joint initiatives or as required to maintain municipal operational continuity.
•Monitor automated backup logs to verify successful completion and report any failures or anomalies to the IT & Automation Manager.
•Create and update clear documentation for IT procedures, hardware configurations, and common troubleshooting steps.
•Assist the Automation group with various projects and system tasks as specifically assigned.
•Adhere to HWU ethical standards,.
•Collaborate with other IT team members to provide feedback on user-facing issues and assist in the deployment of approved technical improvements.
•Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry best practices to share relevant insights with IT leadership.
•Maintain strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
•Maintain excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.
•Required to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
•Maintain regular and predictable in person attendance during regular business hours at Henderson Water Utility is required.
•Must undergo and successfully complete drug test and alcohol screening prior to employment and future drug test and/or alcohol screening throughout employment pursuant to the City’s

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field supplemented by three
(3) years of previous relevant experience and/or training.
•Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and operating systems.
•Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, iPadOS, and iOS operating systems.
•Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols and services (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, etc.).
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
•Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A , Network , Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) are a plus but not required.
