Three (3) years of experience as a full-time police officer must have occurred at a California POST-certified Police or Sheriff's Department. The following types of experience do not count toward the prerequisite. Street/Patrol experience from an agency outside of California. Prior experience as a military police officer. Prior experience as a correctional officer. Prior experience as a sheriff's deputy working at a county jail or state prison.
