Description of Work
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Electrical Operations performs a variety of repair, maintenance, and provisioning duties to ensure proper operation of electric substations, transformers, SCADA, wired and wireless voice/data communications equipment, electric meters, traffic signals, water well controls, telephones and telephone system and various other electric and electronic equipment. Performs required high voltage primary testing on all Substation and Power plant equipment.
Qualifications
Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to an Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or Information Technology from an accredited college.
Special Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- May be required to obtain CDL.
Essential Function of the Job
- Inspects, maintains and repairs all substation equipment, including transformers, breakers, relays, capacitor banks, regulators, etc., electrical and electronic devices for other departments, telephone and fiber equipment, traffic signal controls and fixtures, and calibrates and repairs SCADA system equipment.
- Reviews, and carries out switching orders.
- Inspects, reads, tests, installs and programs meters along with installing and testing metering equipment.
- Read and maintain as needed Electronic interface with water and gas meters.
- Operate, repair, and install devices associated with AMI metering systems.
- Reports unusual events or operating conditions to Director of Electrical Operations
- Cleans and maintains Substations, Meters & Substation repair shop, department vehicles, tools etc. as required.
- During emergencies, performs any duties required to protect personnel, property or to preserve continuity of service.

Residency Requirement
15 minutes from duty station, per Google maps, within 6 months of date of hire.
HOURS
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
May be called upon at other times for maintenance or repair work of an emergency nature or as otherwise required.
