JOB SUMMARY
The Lifeguard is responsible for safeguarding the lives of swimmers. Must have the ability to communicate with people of all ages. Must have current lifeguard certification, Texas Driver’s license, and CPR/First Aid certification. Must be able to work between the hours of 8:30 and and 7:00 pm including weekends.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
REPORTS TO: Sports & Aquatics Manager
Employee has no supervisory responsibilities.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Responsible for safeguarding the lives of swimmers.
Responsible for assisting in maintaining and enforcing pool safety.
Responsible for monitoring swimmers at all times.
Responsible for arriving to work on time and ready to work.
Responsible for keeping guard stands clear of swimmers.
Responsible for being a positive example to patrons.
Responsible for explaining and enforcing basic pool rules.
Responsible for providing information regarding facility use and hours of operation.
Responsible for conflict and customer relations.
Responsible for assisting in general maintenance and clean up of activities/facilities and restrooms.
Responsible for the property of the City of Harker Heights Aquatics Center.
Responsible for submitting reports to Pool Supervisor on accidents, damage to facilities and equipment, problems among staff, and complaints from facility users.
Attendance is an essential function of the job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, Experiences:
Must be a minimum of 15 years of age. Must be Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR Certified. Preferred to have experience in a lifeguard position. This position requires good interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and visual awareness. The Lifeguard is required to interact with all users of the pool. Must be able to relate rules and directions. This position requires the ability to provide support and encouragement to swimmers, and to communicate with the Aquatic Supervisor and the City of Harker Heights Parks and Recreation Department.
