JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Light Equipment operator performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled task in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of parks, athletic fields, landscapes areas, and recreational facilities. The position operates light equipment and ensures city parks, buildings, and designated rights of way are mowed, safe, clean, and visually appealing

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Operate light equipment such as mowers (zero-turn, righting, and push), weed eaters blowers, small tractors, utility vehicles, and other ground maintenance tools.
- Preforms routine ground maintenance including mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, planting, watering, fertilizing, and debris removal.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of athletic fields, including lining, dragging, and turf care.
- Inspect parks and facilities for safety hazards and report maintenance needs or concerns.
- Preform minor repairs on park equipment, irrigation systems, playgrounds, and facilities.
- Assist with installation and maintenance of park amenities such as benches, signage, fencing, and trash receptacles.
- Support special events by setting up and breaking down equipment, tables, tents, and other materials.
- Maintain and clean equipment: preform basic preventative maintenance such as checking fluids, sharpening blades, and reporting mechanical issues.
- Follow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Assist with litter control and ensure parks are clean and welcoming for the public.
- Respond to weather-related events and emergencies, which may include after-hours or weekends work.
- Attendance is an essential function of this job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, or GED; Possess or ability to obtain a Texas Driver’s License. Previous experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, or related field preferred.
