What You’ll Do
- Supervise and support a team of service providers delivering benefit programs
- Review and ensure the quality of case management plans and services
- Guide eligibility policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance
- Train, coach, and evaluate staff performance; recommend hiring and disciplinary actions
- Monitor program activities and expenditures; assist with budgeting processes
- Interpret policy changes and communicate updates to staff
- Serve as a liaison with community partners and external agencies
- Assign caseloads and address complex or sensitive cases
- Develop and implement internal policies and procedures
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a closely related field.
- Requires a minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in administering human service delivery and/or financial benefit programs and other benefit and child welfare programs, or closely related experience.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must successfully pass a Child Protective Service Check and a criminal background check related to this position before any offer of employment or promotion.
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- May be required to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Requires flexibility and a willingness to learn a broad range of skills and to function effectively in various assignments.
- Extensive contact with the general public, related agencies, community organizations, agency staff, and other City departments.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergencies or at the direction of the City Manager, and this may include long hours and unusual schedules.
