What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works Director position at City of Hallandale Beach?
Responsible for the administration of a variety of divisions, offices, or specialized sections of the department’s operations such as traffic engineering, streets and bridge maintenance, landscaping, facilities maintenance, water treatment and supply, wastewater collection, fleet, and waste and recycling management. Position is primarily focused on directing, coaching, developing, and evaluating other people. Position requires extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas that can be used to develop and implement policies and procedures as well as determining efficient and innovative ways to accomplish the organization’s business strategies.

Ten (10) or more years’ utilities experience, including at least three years of supervisory or management experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or obtain within one year of employment. Professional Engineer certification is preferred. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.
