The fixed asset accountant performs various functions to ensure effective maintenance of the city?s fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and inventory to support the city?s financial accounting functions. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of city financial functions and to the accuracy and completeness of city financial records. Essential duties include:
- Processes monthly motor pool billing, reconciles to general ledger, corrects errors; manages vehicle titles; ensures accuracy and proper filing.
- Processes inventory-related journal entries; reconciles balances.
- Processes hotel/motel tax journal entries and reconciliations.
- Records various entries related to Airport operations.
- Coordinates fixed asset accounting and depreciation, records disposal of fixed assets.
- Processes various cost allocation journal entries; creates budget to actual analysis.
- Assists with monthly and year-end closing procedures.
- Performs related duties.
