The City of Greenville is accepting applications for the following full-time position within the Water Department:
Water Distribution/Public Services Maintenance Worker
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The position requires the performance of a variety of strenuous, physical, and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance of the City’s water distribution system, and assisting the Public Services department with various other jobs.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Work is performed under the supervision of the Public Services Director and the Water Operator in Charge.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list is not a complete list of the possible jobs that will be required for this position.
- Water distribution maintenance
- Excavation
- Hydrant flushing
- Asphalt street repair,
- Concrete work,
- Tree trimming and removal,
- Snow plowing
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or Equivalency
2. Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License
3. Must submit to, and pass, both a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
4. Must submit to a background check
5. Either have or be able to obtain a valid CDL class B with Airbrakes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a valid Michigan Commercial Driver License with class B endorsement for airbrakes.
Some knowledge of public utility construction and maintenance practices is desired.
Some knowledge of plumbing. Ability to operate heavy equipment: loader, backhoe, dozer, and excavator.
State of Michigan approved drinking water System and Distribution licenses.
HOURS & JOB TYPE:
This is a full-time position 40 hours per work, with normal operating hours from
7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday thru Friday. An on-call duty rotation for emergency calls is also required upon completion of training.
COMPENSATION:
Starting wage is $20.00 - $27.00 an hour based off experience, certifications, and qualifications. The City of Greenville offers an excellent benefits package and retirement plans.
