Essential Functions | % of Time | - Perform Repairs and Complete Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Perform complex repairs on gasoline, diesel, and electric vehicles as well as shop/facility equipment, including work on diesel/gasoline engines, electric drive motors, high-voltage vehicle electrical systems, electronically controlled transmissions, ride height suspension systems, suspension linkages, steering linkages, kingpins, wheel bearings, tires, airbrake systems (including anti-lock braking systems), hydraulic brake systems (including ABS), multiplexing electrical systems, lighting systems, Bendix air systems, heating and air conditioning systems, bus fare collection systems, and ITS. Follow original equipment manufacturer (OEM) diagnostic processes and procedures—such as wiring diagrams, diagnostic trees, repair and parts manuals, and schematics—to perform troubleshooting on vehicles, and/or equipment. Use diagnostic software (including Cummins Insite, Allison DOC, Wabco, Proterra Diagnostic, ViriCiti, Genfare, and Shopkey), multimeters, specialized tools, test gauges, and integrated on-board maintenance systems to identify defects. Once the issue is identified, determine an effective repair method and complete the repair to OEM specifications. Ensure that, upon completion, the vehicle or equipment is properly repaired and safe for its intended use. Actively contribute to the identification and reporting of safety issues or concerns encountered during the performance of essential job functions. Maintain accurate records of service and repair activities within fleet maintenance software.
| 60% | - Conduct Preventive Maintenance: Perform A, B, C, and D preventive maintenance services and safety inspections on a variety of gasoline, diesel, and electric vehicles/buses as well as shop and facility equipment. Address and complete any necessary repairs for defects identified during the preventive maintenance process before returning the vehicle or bus to service. Use fleet maintenance software to complete electronic check sheets for each service performed. Ensure that the vehicle is operating properly and is in a safe condition for its intended use prior to returning it to service.
| 30% | - Assist in installation and Repair of Specialized Equipment: Assist in installation of specialized equipment such as cellular data systems/modems/Wi-Fi, emergency lighting, two-way radios, computer/mobile data terminal mounts, fare collection systems, ITS, GPS equipment, body add-ons, and decals. Troubleshoot, repair, or replace these items as needed.
