This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

This position will be open until filled; applicants will be reviewed as they are received.
- Prepares and appears for court hearings including arraignments, pre-trial conferences, restitution hearings and identification hearings; Tries jury and non-jury trials with defendants and/or attorneys.
- Reviews the file on each case including police reports, previous convictions, body worn cameras and other evidence. Responds to motions from defense attorneys; prepares any necessary correspondence and prepares for the pre-trial conference.
- Reviews cases forwarded by the Glendale Police Department, Code Enforcement Department and other departments as required and makes the determination whether to prosecute.
- Researches case law, writes appellate briefs and provides written responses to motions.
- Argues motions before the court.
- Reviews dismissed cases for possible re-filing.
- Records daily public message regarding cases going to trial.
- Files and retrieves case files.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Federal, State and City criminal codes, rules of procedure and constitutional law
- Judicial procedures and rules of evidence
- Principles, practices and methods of legal research and sources of legal reference
- Methods and practices of trial work
Ability to:
- Analyze and organize facts, evidence, and precedent and identify the determinative aspects of cases and present them in a clear and logical order.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with employees, court officials, attorneys and the general public.
Special Requirements
- Membership in the State Bar of Arizona (or pending admission to the State Bar of Arizona).
