Job Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE: The Operator Trainee performs construction and/or maintenance duties of the water distribution production and wastewater systems including but not limited to collection/distributions main lines service lines fire hydrants valves water meters lift stations manholes and other utilities appurtenances. This is a working position involving the operation (start/stop process equipment) and maintenance of the City’s water and wastewater facilities.Additional Information:
SALARY HOURLY PAY: $18.11 P/HMINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or (GED) equivalent. Valid Driver’s License (state of residence). Must meet city’s insurability requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year experience in the field of construction maintenance water or wastewater.
Other Conditions:
- Must pass a background check.
Conditions of Employment:
- Will be required to obtain and maintain Water Operator I Certification with the New Mexico Quality Control Commission within eighteen (18) months of hire. Such certification shall be considered as a condition of employment. Will be required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) A or B within one (1) year of hire. City will cover the costs for one (1) course to obtain a CDL on conditions the employee signs a twenty-four (24) month employment agreement.
