The City of Fullerton Fire Cadet Program offers motivated young adults ages 14-24 the opportunity to learn alongside professional firefighters while building the skills, discipline, and confidence needed for a future in the fire service.
As a Fire Cadet, you'll participate in hands-on training, station activities, technical drills, physical fitness, and emergency service education designed to prepare you for the next step in your journey. Whether you're exploring a career in firefighting, preparing for the fire academy, pursuing EMT certification, or simply looking for a meaningful way to serve your community, this program provides an exceptional foundation.
Cadets come from many different backgrounds and experience levels. High school students gain early exposure to the fire service while developing leadership, teamwork, and responsibility. College students, graduates, and military veterans can strengthen their knowledge and practical experience as they work toward careers in emergency services.
Qualified Cadets may also earn the opportunity to participate in the department's Ride-Along Program, observing emergency responses alongside Fullerton Fire personnel and gaining valuable insight into the daily responsibilities of firefighters.

Do you live within the City of Fullerton?
Do you live within 40 miles of Fullerton?
Do you attend a school within the Fullerton Joint Union High School District?
If you are currently enrolled in high school, do you maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0? (If selected to continue in the process, you will be required to provide a copy of your most recent report card.)
Are you able to attend Fire Cadet meetings held on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of each month?
What are your long-term career goals?

Applicants Must Meet The Following Minimum Requirements
- Age: 14–24 years old (applicants under 18 must have parent or guardian consent).
- Education: Current high school student or high school graduate with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Residency: Must reside within 40 miles of the City of Fullerton.
- Availability: Must be able to attend Cadet meetings held on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of each month. Regular attendance is required.
- Commitment: Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, integrity, and a willingness to learn.
- Physical Readiness: Must be capable of participating in physical training and hands-on activities in a safe manner.
- Conduct: Must successfully complete any required background screening and comply with all program rules, policies, and standards of conduct.
