Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Fire Sprinkler Designer role based in Corona, CA. The Fire Sprinkler Designer will prepare detailed fire sprinkler system layouts and hydraulic calculations in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications. Responsibilities include developing coordinated drawings using design software, reviewing architectural and structural plans, and producing installation drawings and material listings for field teams and fabrication. The role will interact regularly with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to clarify design requirements, resolve conflicts, and support project schedules. Day-to-day tasks also include updating design documents based on field changes, supporting permitting and submittals, and maintaining accurate project documentation. The position requires consistent attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Experience with fire sprinkler system design, including reading and interpreting architectural, structural, and mechanical plans.
- Proficiency with CAD or BIM design tools (such as AutoCAD and/or Revit) and ability to produce coordinated layout and shop drawings.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA standards, building and fire codes) and permitting requirements.
- Strong math and analytical abilities, including hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and system layout optimization.
- Attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with project managers, engineers, field teams, and AHJs.
- Ability to work on-site in Corona, CA, in a team environment, while managing individual responsibilities and priorities.
- Prior experience in fire protection, construction, or MEP design is highly beneficial; NICET certification in water-based systems is a plus.
