Description:
Under supervision of the Operations Superintendent with daily direction from the Maintenance Foremen, performs routine Building & Grounds maintenance duties on and around Water & Sewer facilities.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid IL Driver’s License and good driving record
- One year of experience in building and grounds maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
- In-depth knowledge and experience working with hand and power tools
- Knowledge of basic preventative and general maintenance activities
- Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and drawings
- Experience with HVAC, plumbing and electrical is desired
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- ·Mows and trims grass
- Performs snow removal and ice control of all entrances and walkways
- Performs all levels of janitorial maintenance, such as cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies, emptying trash, cleaning tables, windows, floors, ceilings, etc.
- Assists with moving furniture and equipment upon request
- Keeps inside and outside of buildings painted and in good repair. Repairs plaster and drywall, performs door and lock maintenance, changes light bulbs, etc.
- Assists with the renovation and remodeling of buildings
- May perform minor plumbing and electrical work
- Pushes sludge
- May obtain estimates for supplies and repairs and place orders as requested
- Performs work in a conscientious and safe manner. Notices and corrects unsafe hazards and conditions and checks fire extinguishers on an appropriate schedule. Notifies supervisor when finding serious safety issues and/or if unable to correct the issue.
- Equipment upkeep, such as cleaning and light maintenance as directed
- May be asked to assist the Maintenance Foreman as time allows
- Other duties as assigned

Starting rate for this position is $23.03/hour with an excellent benefit package that includes health, dental, vision, & life insurance, paid time off, plus an IMRF pension.
