Key Responsibilities:
- Audit taxpayer and City financial records to determine tax liabilities and ensure compliance
- Conduct legislative reviews and prepare revenue analyses and policy impact reports
- Attend meetings and workshops to stay informed on the latest tax policies and audit technologies
- Perform comprehensive research for audit analysis and prepare materials for court and legislative reports
- Prepare and process various audit reports and documentation to support audit activities
- Consult legal and regulatory sources to ensure accuracy and compliance in all work
- Communicate with department staff, legal professionals, and government agencies to conduct audit analyses
- Perform general administrative duties, including preparing reports and correspondence
- Undertake other related tasks as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in financial management, business, accounting, or related field
- Previous experience in government finance or accounting preferred
- Strong knowledge of auditing standards and financial reporting frameworks
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with State and City tax codes and their application to assessments
- Ability to interact courteously with the public and staff
- Comprehensive knowledge of property assessment methods
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and revenue assessment software
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of the City and other governmental entities
