EO Rear Load - Commercial
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent under the guidance of the Department Supervisor operates equipment to remove waste and/or recyclables from public locations in a safe manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Note: All City of Fort Smith positions require the employee to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees, and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. Must show cooperation and respect to fellow employees and supervisors at all times.
1. Operate equipment as assigned.
2. Open gates and unlock boxes as needed.
3. Hook boxes in a safe manner.
4. Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspection and clean truck daily.
5. Responsible for safety of truck.
6. Maintain route sheet.
7. Communicate with dispatch regarding any needed container repairs.
8. Communicate with customers in a pleasant manner.
9. Regular attendance and timeliness is required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE for EO in Training:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and must obtain required CDL within 6 months of hire.
- No experience necessary. On the job training for transitioning to higher EO levels.
This position does not have EOI Classifications.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE for EOII:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have valid Class B CDL w/air brake upon hire.
- 6 months previous experience in operating construction related vehicles or heavy equipment is necessary.
- May be required to operate: front loader/rear loader/roll-off truck
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE for EOIII:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have valid Class B CDL w/air brake endorsement upon hire.
- 12 months previous experience in operating construction related vehicles or heavy equipment is necessary.
- May be required to operate above equipment plus: recycling truck
