ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $54,037.00 - 81,054.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

ANNUAL ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $60,000.00 - 71,000.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

Job Summary

Work related to performing preventative and corrective maintenance of buildings and mechanical equipment at the City's water treatment and water reclamation and biosolids facilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Support the goals of the Water Production and/or the Water Reclamation and Biosolids Divisions, focused on continual improvement, pollution prevention, and regulatory compliance. Engage and participate as directed in facility management programs.
  • Inspects and monitors equipment for potential problems and safety hazards.
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates and logs maintenance and repairs.
  • Repairs or replaces parts and equipment; designs, fabricates, and installs parts, equipment and/or systems.
  • Operates, maintains, and repairs vehicles, equipment, electric carts, and tools.
  • Performs general building and grounds maintenance including sprinkler maintenance and repairs
  • Requisitions parts, supplies, and materials.
  • Inspects and monitors equipment, infrastructure, and facilities for potential problems and safety hazards.
  • Performs corrective and preventative maintenance as assigned on equipment, infrastructure, and facilities
  • Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to organize, prioritize, and track work and hours performed.
  • May assist other Division work groups including Operations, Process Control, Technical Services, Water Quality Lab/Pollution Control Laboratory, and Electrical/Instrumentation staff, and other city work groups.
  • May monitor, record, and maintain reservoirs and ditch levels.
  • Required to be part of an On Call rotation and be available days, nights and weekends while on call
  • May assist with solids residual management program by cleaning and reconditioning ponds and removing sludge

Required Knowledge Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of state, local, and departmental water quality and biosolids regulations and knowledge of the environmental impact of work performed
  • Ability to anticipate, troubleshoot, and solve mechanical problems.
  • Ability to do basic and advanced math.
  • Basic computer skills in CMMS, word processing, spreadsheet, and database management applications
  • Ability to use various hand tools and shop equipment such as welders, mills, and lathes, sockets, pullers, wrenches and hot steel saws as required by the assigned job.
  • Ability to perform corrective and preventative maintenance and repair of plant equipment, infrastructure, and facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical documents.
  • May require the ability to be “on call” and to work a variety of weekday, weekend, evening, and holiday hours.
  • May require ability to operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, skidsteer, hoist, forklift, bucket truck, crane.
  • Ability to interact professionally with City Staff and the general public.
  • Ability to handle chemicals in a safe manner.
  • Ability to determine and report unsafe conditions.
  • Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner.
  • Ability to do carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, welding, vibration analysis, and machine work
  • Ability to use backflow test equipment.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Preferred

High School Diploma or GED and or functionally related licenses or certificates High school diploma or GED

Experience Requirements

  • Three (3) to five (5) years related experience in industrial mechanical work, Facility Maintenance, Water or Wastewater Treatment Maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certifications/Licenses/Specialized Training

  • Valid driver’s license. Valid Commercial Driver's License may be required. Wastewater Operator D or Water Treatment Operator D License or th e ability to acquire one within 18 months of hire date. Lift Truck Certification, Confined Space Entry Certification. Hazardous Material First Responder Certification. Forklift Certification. Lock out/Tag out Certification. CPR/First Aid Certification encouraged one or more of the following licenses / certifications: Machinist, Mechanic, Plumber, Vibration Analyst, Backflow Prevention Testing
