Duties And Responsibilities
- Support the documentation, evaluation, and testing of large language model (LLM) workflows designed to assist laboratory staff with reviewing water quality analytical results and associated metadata.
- Develop technical documentation describing the use of AI-assisted tools for laboratory data review, including user guidance, workflow descriptions, and operational procedures
- Assist with the development and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to laboratory information systems, AI-assisted review processes, and data management practices.
- Help maintain Quality Assurance program documentation
- Support water quality data validation and reporting needs
- Assist with the maintenance of high-quality data in the Laboratory Information Management System (X-LIMS). Related tasks may include data validation, data queries, and system quality assurance checks.
- Assist with sample event preparation, sample preservation, and other basic lab support functions, as needed.
- Demonstrated cultural competence to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people of diverse identities, perspectives, and cultural backgrounds.
- Strong learning orientation. Leverages all resources and is creative in ways of learning for self to continue adapting to changing issues and trends.
- A desire and ability to understand the diverse needs of internal and external customers, and to create experiences and deliver services that exceed their expectations.
- A desire and ability to utilize digital tools for organizational information, individual, and teamwork.
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, mathematics or related science degree/experience preferred
- Experience or training with the implementation of AI tools for Human-AI teaming workflows for water quality coding
- Experience in documenting AI-assisted workflows, human–AI collaboration systems, or applied machine learning tools
- Familiarity with large language models, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted coding and documentation tools preferred
- Proficient with MS Office suite, including Word and Excel
- Some Information Management Systems and/or database experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis (computation and interpretation of summary statistics)
- Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to write, edit, and critique SOPs and technical reports
- Familiar with principles of laboratory Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs
- Ability to operate basic benchtop equipment such as pH meters, thermometers, vacuum filters
- Some experience with laboratory instrument calibrations preferred
- Knowledge of Laboratory Safety and Hygiene preferred
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff
- Detail oriented team player, able to collaborate
