Job summary
Under general supervision, this position sweeps, mops, cleans bathrooms, offices and kitchens in assigned city buildings. Picks up and empties trash from offices, kitchen areas and outside receptacles. Dusts furniture, ledges, blinds and other fixtures. Cleans walls and doors as needed. Cleans all walkways as needed. Strips, buffs and waxes the floors as needed. Cleans outside of city buildings which includes picking up trash around buildings as well as the parking lot. Notifies supervisor when supplies are needed. Reports to the Public Works Director.Essential Functions
High School Diploma or its equivalent and one (1) month of experience in a job-related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Qualifications:
Valid Driver’s License.
Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check (including driving history), pre-employment physical and drug screen.

- Maintain custodial care to city buildings including floors, kitchens, break areas, and employee/public restrooms as required by City of Foley standards.
- Cleans floors with floor scrubbers and a micro fiber dust mop and dusts office furniture.
- Mops floors with a wet mop and posts wet floor signs in all city buildings.
- Vacuums all rugs, mats and carpeted areas in assigned city buildings.
- Cleans all windows, ledges and baseboards in assigned city buildings.
- Buffs, strips and waxes floors as needed in assigned city buildings.
- Picks up trash and recycling from inside and outside of the assigned city buildings.
- Prepares and generates information such as the inventory supplies list for assigned city buildings.
- Performs inspections for quality control and makes recommendations for improvements to the buildings.
- Utilizes a variety of machinery and equipment such as floor scrubber, floor buffer, dishwasher, leaf blower and a City vehicle.
- Utilizes a variety of tools and/or sets of tools such as dust mops, brooms, dust pans and floor blowers.
- Cleans and properly maintains city equipment, i.e., vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
