Rate: $19.89 hourly

- Works at the Senior Center, receiving and assisting Senior Citizens daily
- Exhibits a professional image, behavior, appearance, and demeanor at all times
- Responds to public inquiries and provides general information to the public
- Receives and answers incoming phone calls
- Works the Senior Citizen Lunch Program – taking reservations, ordering meals, shopping for food and other items, taking payment, keeping emergency records for diners, serving lunch, making deposits and cleaning equipment and center after the program.
- Plans, schedules and executes the lunch program activities not limited to but including seasonal birthday parties, holiday entertainment, speakers, blood pressure and blood sugar nurse visits, and special events.
- Receives, stocks and organizes all shipments of catering and janitorial supplies
- Assists in receiving and distributing the Food Boxes for the St. Louis Area Food Bank – keeping applications current, delivering boxes to the senior’s car, and preparing the paperwork for audits
- Assists in Senior Citizen Trips by setting up trips, selling tickets and accompanying seniors on trips as City Representative when necessary
- Assisting with the Senior Citizen Tax Program by making appointments and reminder calls, and working as tax receptionist when necessary
- Assisting at Senior Citizen Events and Programs by selling tickets, decorating, serving meals and cleaning up after the event
- Working with Senior Citizen Transportation Program – making sure bus riders are properly signed up and have emergency cards on file
- Works with Senior Commission for monthly meetings, event planning, and event setup
- Performs other duties as directed
Requirements
Education and Experience
The person in this position must have a high school diploma or its equivalent with specialized course work in office practices such as typing, bookkeeping, and filing preferred. Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to handle stressful situations is vital for this position.

Knowledge

- Operation of mobile radio base system
