Examples of the Work Performed
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
- May load trash into collection vehicles using tools such as shovels, rakes, and pitchforks as well as by hand
- After training on various solid waste equipment, serves as a solid waste equipment operator, and will be assigned to a front loading, automated side loading, rear load, or hoist and haul collections vehicle
- Cleans, services and performs general maintenance on solid waste collection equipment and vehicles as required
- Actively aids and supports a training program aimed at promoting acquired skills to other employees
- May drive and operate the rear loading collection truck (used for bulky items pickup), as assigned
- Makes simple field repairs and services equipment as required for daily operation
- Performs other solid waste manual duties as assigned, such as bin maintenance, welding, litter pickup, etc.
- Safely operates a side loading collection truck, rear load collections truck, or front-loading collections truck.
- Other duties as assigned
Equipment Operator II:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate
- Valid Arizona Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- One (1) year of equipment experience with CDL
- Two (2) years of CDL operating experience
- Experience driving commercial vehicles in city conditions
- Experience performing strenuous manual laborer tasks
- Some welding & painting experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
