Description
The City of Fishers is hiring a Zumba Instructor. This role provides safe and effective group fitness instruction while promoting a commitment to healthier lifestyles and upholding the mission of the Fishers Community Center. Work is performed within established policies, procedures, and goals. This position will hold monthly pop-up exercise demonstrations at the Fishers Farmers Market and potentially other community events until the Fishers Community Center opens in October 2025.
Examples of Duties
- Plan and lead energizing, fun, safe, effective, and educational Zumba activity sessions to a wide range of clientele. Tailor sessions to participant ability/physical limitations and focus on helping participants achieve their health and wellness goals.
- Record and maintain attendance records.
- Complete Set-up and tear-down of equipment and activity space prior to and after participant occupancy.
- Provide a safe environment for participants, staff, and volunteers by strictly adhering to all City of Fishers policies and procedures and maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the workspace and equipment.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by enforcing all safety guidelines, conducting regular inspections, and reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Act as a first responder in the event of an emergency, providing immediate assistance, administering first aid or CPR as needed, and following proper emergency protocols to ensure member and staff safety.
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and staff.
- Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Equivalent to completion of a high school diploma.
- One (1) or more years of experience leading group exercise.
- Requires the ability to effectively provide a high level of customer service to diverse internal and external customers both in-person, online, and over the telephone.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and background noises.
- Must have the ability to obtain a nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (e.g. ACSM, NASM, AFAA, ACE) and/or Group Exercise Certification (e.g. ACSM, NASM, AFAA, ACE, Les Mills, Zumba, Mad Dogg Athletics, or other accredited organizations) within the first 60 days.
- Must have an Adult CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within the first 60 days.
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
