What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Attendant PT position at City of Farmers Branch?
The purpose of this position is to provide part-time staff support at the Historical Park including weekends and special events.
Provides general staff support including answering phones, working with reservations, running errands, greeting guests, giving tours, and general administrative support.
Performs general cleaning services including restrooms, park grounds, litter and trash control, power washing pathways, and weeding flower beds.
Performs general park maintenance including painting, safety inspection of structures, pest control, and landscaping.
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
One year public contact or customer service experience preferred.
Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check, drug and alcohol test and a motor vehicle review.Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.
Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.
This position normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.
Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
Basic ability to recognize meaning of common two or three syllable words. Basic ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Basic ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or a series of numbers, names, and addresses.

- Licenses and Certificates:
Valid driver's license with good driving record and ability to maintain while employed.
- Work Environment:
Work involves exposure to disagreeable elements and noise. Involves continuous outdoor work with frequent exposure to poor weather conditions. Physical demands include frequent lifting of heavy objects weighing up to 100 lbs. Continuous physical exertion, requiring heavy muscular effort with resulting fatigue of arms, legs, back or sensory facilities. Climbs, kneels, squats, stoops, bends or walks in confined spaces. Sits, stands, or walks for long periods of time. Works around and may be exposed to dust, chemicals and mechanical hazards.
