- Support the Finance Department in managing all accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll accounting, Utility Billing, and Capital Projects.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff; conduct performance evaluations, coordinate training, and ensure adherence to proper reconciliation and accounting standards.
- Prepare and review journal entries; assist in setting up and maintaining accounts and funds in the accounting system.
- Oversee and review reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and bank accounts; investigate discrepancies and propose corrections.
- Prepares the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and works directly with external auditors during the annual audit process.
- Assist in coordinating and implementing auditor recommendations, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of supporting schedules and disclosures.
- Assist with the Accounting Division's budget development and monitoring, providing analysis and guidance to departments throughout the budget process.
- Maintain awareness of new accounting standards and legislative changes; assist in updating policies and procedures accordingly.
- Support debt service payment processes and assist in the preparation of Official Statements and bond issuance.
- Monitor accounting-related workflows within the ERP system; ensure compliance with financial controls and approval protocols.
- Contribute to financial and operational analysis to support strategic decisions and long-term planning.
- Assist in managing the City's relationships with banking institutions and oversee the preparation of unclaimed property reports.
- Provide support to departments and external vendors on complex financial issues not resolved at the staff level.

- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. - Experience:
Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial management; experience in government or municipal finance preferred. - Certifications:
CPA or CGFO designation is required or the ability to obtain within 18 months of hire.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB standards, and municipal finance principles.
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, reconciliations, and audit workpapers.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and accounting software; advanced Excel skills preferred.

- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Skilled in mentoring, supervising, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
