FULL-TIME
LOCAL 148
$25.40/HOUR
Perform a variety of clerical duties with direct communication with the public in support of the Finance Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Maintains the Permits & Licensing window, first-contact for the public, handles telephone referrals and requests
Provides excellent customer service
Receive mail, packages, etc. and distribute them
Copy, file, and distribute paperwork for the Finance Department
Proper retention and disposal of business & residential rental licenses
Ability create word documents, and perform data entry into excel spreadsheets
Assist Supervisor with special projects
Assure that the public is greeted in a prompt, warm and service oriented manner and that city standards for customer contact and telephone protocol are met
Assists with Accounts Receivable, including basic bookkeeping and banking tasks
Fills in for Clerk I as needed
Perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director of Finance
Issue, record, and maintain waste haulers licenses and files certificates of insurance
Processes cash receipts and permits issued by Finance and Land Use Departments
Maintains database for electronic retention of business licenses and residential rental licenses
BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent, Associates degree preferred
One to three years experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or finance field with public service experience highly desirable
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
High degree of confidentiality required
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, courtesy
Knowledge of basic mathematics and ability to perform routine calculations
Ability to plan and have strong organizational skills
Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing
Experience with Microsoft or comparable software
Ability to determine work priorities and meet schedules/deadlines of the Finance Department
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Most work will be performed in a regular office environment
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Drivers License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, or sit at a desk for prolonged periods. The employee must be able to bend and gather items up to 25 pounds.
