What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Analyst position at City of Fairfield (OH)?
- Review and process tax returns to ensure compliance with all applicable provisions of the Fairfield Codified Ordinance and Ohio Revised Code.
- Investigate, identify, resolve and/or initiate collection proceedings of delinquent income tax accounts.
- Assist taxpayers via phone, counter, and email by providing a proper level of customer service.
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly reports, tax refund listings, and other financial information.
- Review payments for accuracy.
- Assist in the training of clerks and other office staff.
- Perform special tax projects and analysis as assigned.
- Participate in meetings, seminars, etc., as appropriate.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Three years' experience working in finance, accounting, or other related field is preferable but not required.
- Experience or general knowledge of municipal (Ohio) and State tax rules and regulations would be helpful, however, training will be provided.
- Associate's Degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Must possess the essential judgment to exercise broad discretion.
- Knowledge of computers and proficiency with computer software, such as Outlook, Word and Excel; strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills that demonstrate professionalism, patience, and courtesy.
- Valid driver’s license required.
