SUPERVISION RECEIVED – Maintenance Crew Chief
- Sets up and takes down tables, chairs, platforms, podiums, etc. For banquets or meetings;
- Sets up electronics equipment such as sound systems, etc., for events;
- Vacuums and shampoos carpets;
- Sweeps and mops floors; strips and waxes floors;
- Dusts, cleans, and polishes furniture and woodwork;
- Cleans windows, doors, walls, tiles, air conditioning vents, etc.;
- Cleans bathroom toilets and sinks;
- Replaces paper supplies and soap in restrooms;
- Empties ashtrays and waste baskets;
- Maintains inventory of cleaning and paper supplies;
- Prepares and maintains routine records and logs;
- Requisitions supplies as needed;
- Inspects, cleans, and maintains equipment;
- Moves office furniture and equipment; trains and oversees work of newly hired Custodians, as required;
- Locks and unlocks buildings;
- Delivers supplies;
- Performs other related duties as required.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS –
- Assists in the preparation and clean-up for special events;
- Assumes duties of Maintenance Crew Chief in their absence, when assigned;
- Assists the City in the preparation for and aftermath of a major emergency such as a hurricane or other storm or disaster, as needed
Ability to adhere to prescribed routines and practices; ability to train and oversee the work of others; ability to read and write English; ability to prepare and maintain routine records and logs; ability to operate departmental equipment; ability to drive a vehicle; ability to remain at a city work shelter, before, during, and after a hurricane or other storm or disaster, if asked
Working Hours:
IMPORTANT: Generally, hours may vary based on needs and can range from 7:00 am to 2:00 am, with a maximum of 28 hours per week. Employees must be flexible and willing to work a schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays within the part-time weekly limit.
Physical Demands - This is moderate to heavy work for most of the working time. Requires walking short distances; frequent standing, climbing, stooping, reaching, bending; lifting 50 pounds, carrying/pushing/pulling 50 pounds; good finger/hand dexterity and hand/eye coordination; good eyesight, hearing, and speech; working in adverse environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.) periodically; regular driving.
Salary Information:$16.68 per hour; part-time/temporary positions working less than 28 hours per week are not currently eligible for employment benefits. Only applicants with the most job-related qualifications will be selected for interview and further consideration. Additional consideration may be given to applicants with more extensive education, training, or experience. Following a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history and driver’s license check, the candidate will be given a conditional offer of employment. Note: Parks & Recreation candidates must be determined eligible for employment through the Florida Department of Children & Families before a conditional offer can be made. The final candidate will be required to pass a drug test and medical exam.
