Position Title: Custodian
Department: Facility Services
Position Summary: The Custodian keeps the premises of office buildings, dormitories, classroom buildings and other associated university buildings clean and in an orderly position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, surfaces and trim;
- Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms corridors and offices;
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes flooring;
- Cleans rugs, carpets, furniture and draperies/blinds;
- Washes walls, ceilings and woodwork;
- Empties trash and transports waste to disposal area;
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
Physical Demands: In order to perform this job successfully, and individual must be able perform each essential duty satisfactorily and in a timely manner. Physical skills needed include:
- Lifting at least 40 lbs;
- Standing, pushing, pulling, reaching kneeling, and bending;
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking;
- Ability to climb and descend stairs.
Qualifications:

- High School diploma or GED.
- Previous custodial or housekeeping experience in a similar role preferred.
- Must be able read and speak English
Working Relationships: The Custodian/Housekeeper is a member of the Facility Services team and reports to the Director of Facility Services.
Work Schedule: Schedule will be determined based on departmental needs.
