SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Sanitation Services Manager assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

- Accompanies a solid waste collection truck along an assigned route.
- Loads solid waste onto a truck.
- Assists garbage truck and knuckle boom truck operators in backing and positioning equipment.
- Maintains transfer station, including maintaining station grounds.
- Rakes debris to assist in loading.
- Assists in the maintenance and repair of garbage cans.
- Cleans and maintains the tidiness of trucks.
- Assists customers at transfer station as assigned.
- Performs related duties.
- Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.
- Knowledge work safety principles and practices.
- Knowledge of recyclable materials guidelines.
- Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
- Skill in oral and written communication.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must distinguish between shades of color.
- The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggle, or gloves.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
None.
- Possession or a high school diploma or GED.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license or the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Salary : $14 - $21
