POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, grounds maintenance activities including but not limited to mowing, weeding, trimming, watering, snow removal, general grounds cleaning, light maintenance, fire hydrant painting, repairs and general water and wastewater system maintenance activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs grounds maintenance including planting, irrigation, cultivation, fertilization, weeding, digging, and trimming.
- Remove trash and debris from grounds.
- Cleans equipment and performs regular equipment checks to keep equipment operating properly.
- Use tools and equipment according to safety policies.
- Operation of a wide variety of equipment and tools used in grounds maintenance, repair and construction in a safe and effective manner.
- Snow removal using snowplow, shovel, or snow blower. Spread ice melt as needed.
- Performs fire hydrant repairs, painting and maintenance.
- Performs general water and wastewater system maintenance activities.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Guides and instructs seasonal workers in safe job task procedures and safe equipment usage.
- Contacts, coordinates and inspects jobs with contractors and vendors for repairs and services performed at the facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned and required.
PREPARATION AND TRAINING
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in general grounds maintenance
Certifications and/or Licensures
- None
Required Driver’s License
- Valid Colorado driver’s license and a clear or acceptable MVR
An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
Working knowledge of:
- Grounds maintenance tools and equipment
- General maintenance
Basic knowledge of:
- Spraying and control of weeds
- Grounds maintenance
- Small hand tools
- General maintenance and repair

Skills and Abilities
Computer Skills - Basic computer skills required for data entry.
Communication Skills - Basic communication skills required to effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, vendors/suppliers and solicit information as needed.
Must be able to operate various types of lawn and snow removal equipment, light trucks, including forklift and tractor.
HOURLY PAY RANGE
$17.47 - $26.21/Hourly Pay Rate
This is a seasonal position.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
Work is performed inside the water plant facilities and on the surrounding grounds (outside). Work near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes, airborne particles and various chemicals, some of which may be toxic. The employee is exposed to various conditions including wet, hot and cold conditions.
