Street Technician I

The purpose of this job is to provide semi-skilled and skilled work repairing and maintaining city streets.

This position works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

• Operates heavy equipment.
• Mows and clean ditches.
• Spreads asphalt and patches holes in street surfaces.
• Operates dump truck and motorized equipment.
• Pours concrete for the construction or repair or sidewalks and driveways.
• Assists with the installation, repairs, and cleaning of stormwater lines, drains, basins and manholes.
• Performs related work as required.
  
  

Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent and six (6) months of maintenance and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Flagging Certification required.

Must possess and maintain an appropriate, valid state Class B, commercial driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
